Diatomaceous Earth is mined and packed in Western Australia.
Diatomaceous Earth is a source of Silica for plants and soils, and it can be raked into the soil, dusted, and sprayed over plants, chook pen and the backyard garden.
IMPROVING SOIL STRUCTURE
AERATION: Thanks to the unique porous structure of Diatomaceous Earth it enhances the aeration and drainage of the soil. With these enhancements water logging is reduced, there is better moisture retention and better root penetration in the soil and water is better retained in the soil. Very useful for drought ridden soil and sandy soils. This improved structure is conducive to the overall health of the plant.
NUTRIENT RETENTION
Amorphous Silica Source: Our Australian Diatomaceous Earth is high in silica, a highly beneficial micro-nutrient which was once, a million year ago, a living form of silica. Its soil structure improvements allow the silica to be easier absorbed into the cell walls of plants, highly beneficial to the overall health and strength of the plant and increasing pest and disease resistance.
Mineral Content: Our Diatomaceous Earth mined in Western Australia also contains beneficial macronutrients such as magnesium, calcium, sodium and iron which are important elements for the growth of plants and better soil conditions.
PEST CONTROL
Diatomaceous Earth is highly versatile; a popular use is as a natural form of mechanical pest control to kill soft bodied insects such as cockroaches and fleas. Unlike chemical forms of pest control, pests cannot develop a resistance against Diatomaceous Earth. DE is great to use indoors and outdoors for plants and animal dusting.
POULTRY DUSTING
Diatomaceous Earths pest control properties and organic nature make it suitable as a form of animal dusting to keep pests off your chooks. Very lightly coat the Diatomaceous Earth onto the chooks body or sprinkle lightly in the chicken pen floor mixing with saw dust. IMPORTANT: Our DE is raw and organic. Amorphous in makeup which is suited for green purposes. It is not crystalline DE which is poisonous and commonly used for pool filters. It is not a registered food product but allowable as an animal feed supplement.
